History

STIE Indonesia Banjarmasin was founded by Yayasan Lembaga Pendidikan Kejuruan Nasional Indonesia (LPKNI) headquartered in Jakarta on 01 April 1974 by the name AKPI (Akademi Keuangan dan Perbankan Indonesia). Due to the policy amendment of the Minister of Education and Culture Republic of Indonesia to the degree and program of private universities, AKPI then was changed into Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Keuangan Indonesia (STIKI) Banjarmasin on 19 December 1983. It also marked the change of the ownership status from LPKNI foundation to become an independent university. The name of Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Keuangan Indonesia (STIKI) Banjarmasin then was replaced with Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Ekonomi Indonesia Banjarmasin (STIE Indonesia).

STIE Indonesia Banjarmasin has 3 (three) active programs (program studi/prodi), namely S1 Management program, S1 Accounting program, and S2 Magister Management program. The S1 Management and S1 Accounting programs were established under the permission of the Minister of Education and Culture Number 0123/O/1984 on 09 March 1984, while the S2 Magister Management program was established based on the permission of the Directorate General of Higher Education Ministry of National Education Department Republic of Indonesia Number 161/D/T/2009 on 09 February 2009.

The S1 Management, S1 Accounting, and S2 Magister Management Programs have already accredited from BAN-PT (Badan Akreditasi Nasional Perguruan Tinggi), where the S1 Management Program wasreaccredited on November 2012 by BAN-PT based on SK number 042/BAN-PT/Ak-XV/S1/XI/2012 with B ranking, and the S1 Accounting Program on December 2012 based on SK Number 046/BAN-PT/Ak-XV/S1/XII/2012 with B ranking. The accreditation status for S2 Magister Management Program from BAN-PT was achieved on January 2013 based on SK Number 012/SK/BAN-PT/Ak-X/III/I/2013.

In the implementation of the higher education program, STIE Indonesia Banjarmasin not only bases its activities solely on the regulations and legislations of the Indonesian government, but also applies the Management System of Higher Education (Sistem Manajemen Pendidikan Tinggi/SMPT) of ISO 9001:2008 as an international standard of Quality Management System (Sistem Manajemen Mutu). The implementation of Quality Management System based on ISO 9001:2008 in STIE Indonesia Banjarmasin has been certified by PT TUV Rheinland Indonesia on 17 March 2015.
